How Lowie is Made

Here at Lowie, it's important to for us to know where and how our garments are made, who is making them and what the pieces are made of. It's something that's been imperative to us since the beginning. We never want what we're doing to be to the detriment of anyone anywhere. Over the years, we've had the opportunity to learn from and connect with incredible people doing amazing work all around the globe, from entrepreneurs to artisans.

In fashion these days, there are so many instances of worker and environmental exploitation. Neither of those sit right with us, and we hope it doesn't sit well with you either. We want to be transparent with the manufacturing of Lowie pieces. To create a new norm where we all, from brands to wearers of the clothes, know the stories of our clothing.

Below, are the people and manufacturers that we work with—the people we entrust to bring our designs and patterns to life after they leave the studio. Lowie's founder Bronwyn, has spent time in all of the places where our clothes are made and with those making the garments to ensure everything is how it should be. If you ever have any questions or want to know more about how Lowie garments are made, please feel free to contact us.

A&A

A&A is a longtime collaborator with Lowie. Based in Chang Ping, China, the small factory is run by the father-son team of Andy and Anthony. They specialize in ethically made, high-quality knitwear. Many of the knit pieces are made on hand frames which means that no electricity is used to make them. A&A works with skilled handknitters from China's east coast to ensure each item is well made.

Lina & Billy

Lina and Billy run a small high end factory in Shenzhen, China. They make Lowie garments in their sample room due to our small production. We love how beautifully they finish pieces and the quality of the woven garments they make such as dungarees and denim. Those who work with and for Lina and Billy are treated well and paid fairly.

Krasi & Lily

Bronwyn met Krasi and Lily through Intertrade. They've helped Lowie source fibres and manufacturers for our some of our knitwear, including our beautiful recycled cashmere. They value reducing waste in the fashion industry and understand our desire to create a more circular economy. Krasi and Lilly work in Sofia, Bulgaria. All of our pieces from Bulgaria are shipped to the UK via truck, reducing their carbon footprint.

Sumiran

Sumiran and his family run a small factory in Jaipur, India. Lowie is made in their sample room due to our small production. They specialize in cotton and make our printed and organic cotton pieces. We appreciate the time and care put into the garments as many of the finishing stitches are done by hand. We love working with Sumiran because he understands sustainable practices and is always willing to help make Lowie more sustainable.

Harley of Scotland

Based in Peterhead, Scotland, Harley of Scotland makes high-end and quality knitwear. Harley of Scotland is family run and has been around for three generations and is still run on the same site as the original factory. All the yarns are carefully selected to ensure quality and sustainability standards. Knitwear from Harley of Scotland is knit in the round so no yarn is wasted during production. We love working with Harley of Scotland because of their commitment to quality and sustainability.
