Fashion Revolution week is just round the corner, so to get the ball rolling I am going to share a few of our favourite ethical boutiques and retailers doing the right thing.

 

The Keep in Brixton village is one of our faves, its just down the road from Lowie HQ and Kate the owner is one of our great pals! Situated in the bustling and vibrant Brixton village, The Keep has charm and quirk. Tree branches as clothes rails give the space a touch of nature and calmness which is much appreciated after the struggle of exiting Brixton tube station. The Keep has been a much loved fixture of Brixton Village from the beginning in 2012, bringing beautiful and quality ethical clothing to South Londoners. The Keep Instagram is also a favourite with regular updates in the shop, words of wisdom and upcoming events from Kate who is a dedicated ethical lifestyle follower. Kate stocks such brands as Thinking Mu, cor, Kowtow and Lanius.

  

 

Situated in Broadway market 69b is London’s first ethical clothing shop dedicated to providing and curating a considered mix of innovative and high end ethical fashion. The founder Merryn worked as a magazine editor and stylist for companies such as i-D magazine and Isabel Marant before venturing into retail.

69b stocks brands such as Kemp Gadegaard, Marimekko, Armed Angels and excitingly will be stocking Lowie for AW18.

 

 

With a shop in London and Margate, Artisans and Adventurers is a cornucopia of ethical homewares, jewellery, pet food and accessories. Bee and Amy source wonderful products from all over the world from traditional artisans and crafts people. Their love for colour and prints sets them apart from the current trend of minimalist monochrome.

Artisans and Adventurers stock their own collection of handmade jewellery made by artisan producers in Kenya using recycled gold-tone brass, aluminium and locally sourced, sustainable materials, as well as pet accessories by Hiro and Wolf.

 

A different kind of shop now as we focus on awesome Brighton based food retailer Hisbe. Hisbe aims to change the way we buy food, striving to be as transparent as possible and have the least environmental impact on our planet. Hisbe prioritizes local produce, in season fruit and vegetables, meat which is not factory farmed and promotes a no waste attitude by providing customers with the ability to buy quantities of produce in their own containers to take away, therefore forgoing unnecessary throwaway plastic.

 

This wonderful converted barn turned shop and café is on our wish list to visit. A home and lifestyle shop in the heart of Devon dedicated to producing and selling homewares and furniture from artisans around the world. On their website you can read about all the people who make their goods and which products they make. To see and learn about the fascinating lives behind the people who make the products really puts into perspective how much value there is behind the items everyone mindlessly adds to their ‘shopping cart’.  

They have an extensive product range with ceramics, glass, hand woven throws, brass picture frames, jewellery…pretty much everything to make your house, look like a beautifully reclaimed urban and fresh palace.
